The government should be responsible for providing an equitable universal healthcare coverage to all individuals. In terms of justice people are owed security and universal healthcare provides that sense of security for people. Providing people with security is justice which is why we have laws and law enforcers even if nothing happens it gives people a peace of mind and providing healthcare is in the same track where even if individuals don’t go to the doctor it gives them a peace of mind to know that they have a secure healthcare for when they need it. Although the Affordable Care Act system and other government funded insurances in the U.S are ensuring that people with health insurance are receiving adequate healthcare it doesn’t cover everything or everyone. The high cost of health care in U.S leads most people to avoid going to the doctor and even those who are insured still have to make monthly premium payments that don’t cover the entire cost of health care service they receive. There are also co-pays and deductibles depending on the type of coverage one has as well as the kind of medical services they are receiving (HealthCare.gov 2015). According to the President’s Commission, private market insurance and some local government funded health care does not secure equal healthcare to all therefore, the article states that the federal government needs to delegate the healthcare system that ensures everyone receives equal quality of healthcare (179). The President’s commission states that everyone should have access to some level of healthcare so that everyone is able to lead a satisfying life with the reduced worry about healthcare coverage (177). Overall the U.S not providing universal healthcare is the reason the reason millions of people are going bankrupt, losing their possessions and most importantly lack that sense of security when it comes to their healthcare.
