There are two different ways of providing medical services to ensure physical and mental health. Universal and privatized health care are the two most prominent health care systems, these systems contrast the other in many different ways. Each of these health care systems favor on demographic in particular, either rich or middle class. There are many different believers that one health care system is better than the other for many different reasons.
In the case of Private health care, what is paid for is what will be received. The higher the premiums the more advanced treatments are at disposal. The taxpayers of the countries that operate using universal health care pay for the health insurance of everyone. This means that everyone is entitled to health care without paying deductibles or flat rates. Even though everyone is entitled to tax paid insurance the wait times to see a doctor are excessive, and the lack of specialized doctors and treatments is an issue of its own, because of the lack of available treatments Americans have 88% better cancer survival rate than the U.K which is a country that uses universal health care (Atlas). Not only is this an issue, but healthy taxpayers are paying for those who do not take care of themselves, such as smokers and people that are obese. Another disadvantage to universal health care is it’s not free, and needs to be paid for using tax dollars. This leads to spending cuts in other important areas such as education and military. The estimated tax expense of the average Canadian was $5,948 per person, according to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) . I strongly believe that Universal is more well suited for the general public and prioritises everyone's health care as a whole rather than individuals. Yes universal health care does not favor the rich but majority of people in the world do not earn enough to pay the extreme prices of private health insurance. The fact that seven hundred thouse families go bankrupt trying to pay off their insurance bills should be a compelling argument to say that Universal health care is a smarter way to keep everyone healthy (NESRI). The most compelling argument is that their are over one thousand one hundred preventable deaths each year in the states due to the way they run their health care (NERSI). My decision is less based on the positives of Universal healthcare, but the disadvantages of privatized health care. The US has more treatments available and short wait times to be seen by a professional, these additions to the american health care system are only available through ridiculously high payments. I strongly believe that everyone is equal and if one can not afford health care, we as a nation should help them receive the health care they deserve.
