Health care is one of the most intensive, and growing industries in the United States. It is used to help maintain, and improve the health of individuals. For example, health care is entitled to the uses of; medical research used by professionals, the institutions that provide care, the drugs and devices needed, and insurance coverage (1). Health care initially began as a request by the citizens of the United States; which was as early as the 1920’s (2). As time went on, citizens began requesting the expansion of benefits. Many individuals feel that they are entitled to receive medical treatment. They also believe that it should be equal to all, and not forced by the government as a taxed expense. There are many positive and negative aspects of health care. Some positive aspects may include; the limitation of diseases, saving lives, and economic productivity. However, some negative aspects may include; the raising of taxes, doctor shortages, and the increase of debt.
Many individuals support health care. Some believe that the issuance of health care is recognized as a human right through the Declaration of Independence (3). Throughout the Declaration of Independence there are many humans rights recognized; the best known is “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. According to Hillary Clinton,“Health care is a basic right. We are 90 percent covered, we gotta get to 100 percent, and then we gotta get cost down and make it work for everybody” (12). Clinton believes that health care is a right that is given to us naturally, and since it is given to us naturally we must work to lower it to make it affordable for everyone. According to an interview with CBS, “Sanders defended his healthcare proposal that includes “Medicare for all” again January 18, 2016” (12). Sanders believes that medicare should be given to everyone equally. It shouldn’t matter what race, or background one has. It’s a program needed to replenish the lives of every individual. Democrats thoroughly believe that if we keep health care on track; we can replenish it with little justifications to support the stances of every individual. On the opposing side, the Republicans believe that health care should show less government involvement, and fall under a reform. According to Marco Rubio, “America needs health care reform that will cut back government’s role and harness the forces of competition to keep health care prices low and spur innovation” (11). Rubio believes that government should be limited with health care because it creates competition that upbrings federal budgeting, restrictions, and taxes.
