In the classroom, the teacher is faced with many different children. A broad range of personalities, along with different ways children learn. Learning to approach a child in a way that is tailored to them so that they learn what they are being taught is a very important thing in an inclusive classroom. Examination by the teacher could result in how general curriculum can be adapted to a specific child to make a successful learning environment. According to the text book Creating Inclusive Classrooms by Spencer J. Salend states that Universal Design for Learning is an approach that guides the designing and implementation of flexible curriculum and teaching and assessment materials and strategies, learning environments, and interactions with others so they are inclusive of all students, families, and professionals. It also goes on to talk about how Universal Design for Learning stands for a set of principles specially designed to achieve equal opportunities for learning. During class this child displays many symptoms of ADD such as hyperactivity, fidgeting, impulsivity, and lack of restraint. The teacher notices that he can’t sit still during a lesson. This student will do things unintendedly that is distracting to himself and other students. This student will fidget with things that aren’t his or pestering other students, he also mainly gets out of his seat and walks around. This can extremely distracting to other students. It is also frustrating to the other students, which than frustrates this child. This student is a bright child just lacks an out lit for his bundled up energy and can’t display it appropriately. An UDL for this student would be very beneficial for his education because if he can sit and pay attention to the context a little better than he will succeed with learning the new information that is being
