Ahok disagreed, thinking that the Indonesians deserved to vote for their leader. His disagreeent lead to him leaving Gerindra and thus being an independent candidate. This prompted a group of individuals to start a movement, now known as the NGO Teman Ahok to collect one million identity cards to allow him to run as an independent candidate, something that was required by the Indonesian law as he did not have a political party. He then received endorsements from five political parties, including the Golkar and PDIP, two of Indonesia’s biggest political parties. Although Indonesia’s political development has changed, many still believe that Indonesia’s is still filled with instability and corruption that remains from the past. As a Global Politics student, however, I wanted to see how effective NGO’s such as Teman Ahok would help change the old, corrupt system built by the wealthy in Indonesia. This then led me to the research question: To what …show more content…

The inhabitants of entire islands were killed just to improve the Netherlands' spice trade. The conflict was quite long and took a great toll on every party involved in the whole ordeal. Following the conflicts, the remaining Indonesian states crumbled away into ruins, and in the following years, the Dutch were able to construct their colonial empire on top of those same ruins of the old states. Australian and Indonesia, while similar in many ways, have very considerable differences, particularly in their economies. Both are mixed market economies, but while Australia’s economy is well developed and has a large proportion of government interference helping to make Australia one of the most desirable nations to live in, Indonesia’s economy is less advanced with a lower level of income per capita and a lower standard of living than Australia. The Roman republic was not a pure form of democracy but an alteration form of a democracy so I would say that it is kind of democratic. During the Roman empire there were many times where they needed the people’s opinion or sayings on many things. Throughout the meetings for example, the assemblies had the final say in passing or repealing laws and also make the final decision on the question of peace or war. Also the citizens who had the time and expense could vote and that was only two percent of the Romans. So that made it an alteration instead of a pure form of democracy.…

However, a significant change occurred in 2006 when the government enacted the revision of the act. The new law imposed the Islamic Inheritance Law as the ultimate inheritance law for Indonesian Muslims. Under the latest religious act, Muslims are compelled to take the Islamic Inheritance Law as the only choice to resolve disputes in inheritance cases when they decided to appear in the court. Nevertheless, this provision has unsettled the issues that were previously addressed by the former pluralist choices of law regime since the application of Islamic Law in Indonesia sometimes deviates from its gender neutrality and favors males regarding the proportion of entitlement.…

In day-to-day operations? Due to the extreme differences we see in power distance and individualism as well as some other cultural dimensions that are less variant but still different such as masculinity and uncertain avoidance, we will likely see challenges in management and hierarchy, work styles, and communication. Germans having a low power distance score shows that they are highly decentralized, control is disliked, and leadership is challenged to show expertise, Indonesians are high in power distance and depend on hierarchy, management controls and delegates, control is expected and employees expect to be told what to do and when. Germans are individualist their loyalty is…
