SUB-HEAD: Representatives from Meals on Wheels, Alzheimer’s Association and the Prisoner Entrepreneur Program gave brief company descriptions and talked about the impact United Way donations have on their organizations
Nearly 30 Information Technology Services (ITS) Senior Staff and employees gathered at the Rental Car Center on Sept. 29 to learn more about some of the various agencies who benefit from United Way donations.
ITS Day of Caring

Dennes said she believes employees should give to the United Way because a dire circumstance could occur at any moment.
“It’s the right thing to do,” said Dennes. “You never know when you are going to need help and look to the United Way for help.”
Pina said she gives to the United Way because organizations like Meals on Wheels have helped her family tremendously in the past.
“The United Way plays a large role in so many people’s lives each day and DFW employees can contribute to that effort by donating during this campaign,” said Pina.
Employees can choose what their donations go towards by selecting one or more United Way health and human service agency or targeted areas such as education, income and health.

Meals on Wheels Inc. – Tarrant County
Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County is a non-profit organization focused on promoting the dignity and independence of older adults, disabled people and other homebound clients by delivering nutritious meals and providing or coordinating daily …show more content…
“United Way is doing great things with the dollars,” Bruton said. “People all over North Texas are constantly giving so even the smallest amounts can add up and affect thousands of people and their families.”
Alzheimer’s Association – North Central Texas Chapter
The Alzheimer’s Association deals directly with people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. The North Central Texas Chapter focuses mainly on educating and providing assistance to people who take care of those with Alzheimer’s.
One of their programs, Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer’s Caregiver Health (REACH), is solely funded by United Way donations.
Program Manager Shelly Young said the Alzheimer’s Association services are free partly due to the United Way’s funding.
“There is always a misconception our services are provided at a cost, which isn’t the case at all,” Young said. “Because of the funds the United Way provides, it is truly a blessing to say everything we do is free of
