Year-Round Education
Although some people are opposed to year round education because it interferes with their lifestyles, The United States should adopt a system of year round education, because children forget what they have learned the previous year and therefore fall behind in school.

Year Round school is an opportunity to keep kids in school anywhere from six to nine weeks in a row and then are broken up by two to four week vacations. This is called a track. Originally educators thought that this would keep the children in a continual state of learning, and allow them a little break to rejuvenate. At the end of the school year in 2002/2003 there was a 544% increase in year-round schools among the public schools of the United States. Schools that have implemented this were 3,181 and there were 46 states involved. There were 2.3 million students involved as well. The state of California has the most year round school programs and students. Nationally among public schools, elementary schools were using year round schedules than any other kind of schooling. Many other states had large numbers of year round schooling, listed are the top six states and their number of schools. California led the nation with 1,322 year round public schools. Hawaii was next with 296. Arizona had 175 year round schools. Nevada had 107, Texas had 101 and Georgia had 97 active year round schools. Each state was a little different. Like Vermont, some states only had private schools and then there were states that had a mixture of Charter and Private schools participating in year round schools like New Jersey. There were 27 states with charter schools on a year-round schedule and 18 states with private schools on a year round schedule. This is just a small amount of statistics of how widespread year round schooling is.

A school using a single track year-round calendar is simply changing the vacation sequence of the school year. All the students and staff are in school or vacation at the same time. But a school using a multitrack year-round calendar does some things differently; it will divide the entire student body and staff into four or five different tracks. If, for example, a school is using a four-track system, then at any one time three of the four tracks are attending school while the fourth is on vacation. The rotation sequence depends on the year-round calendar being used. In the 60/20 calendar, one track returns from vacation and one track leaves every 20
