The Pros And Cons Of Syrian Refugees

Some U.S states are not allowing Syrian Refugees in. There are several reason why I think those states should reverse their decision.

A lot of areas here in the United States are barren; uninhabited. The Syrian refugees could utilize that unused space. Moreover, the unemployment rate will also drop because the refugees could do the jobs that we don’t want to do. In that way, they will have a source of income and won’t be that of a burden on the U.S economy. Also, I think that America should also demonstrate moral courage, which many people think is the right thing to do. We must deal with threats without rejecting our ethical obligations. Jesus Christ said: ‘’If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you

What have they got? Before our religions, castes, races comes humanity. As human beings, we can very well understand their struggle and hardships. Hence we should be the ones to assist them when they need us. However, the fear of a Syrian suspect involved in the Paris attack made the states take this decision. The thing is, we can’t blame everyone for one person’s fault. Let’s me put it into this perspective: The Syrian doesn’t represent all Syrians just like ISIS does not represent all Muslims and Islam. And then, not everyone is the same! Bernie Sanders said: "We will not turn our backs on the refugees who are fleeing Syria and Afghanistan. We will do what we do best and that is be Americans – fighting racism, fighting xenophobia, fighting …show more content…
Syria’s population used to consist of 22.85 million people. 74% of them consisted of Sunni Muslims. We are potentially at war with ISIS, and giving them a chance to enter the United States would be foolish. ISIS has announced that it will be using the refugee crisis as a way to smuggle militants into the United States (Jack Crone). Letting in potential terrorists into the United States, and into our homes, is a foolish decision entirely (Ben). Some may argue that “not all Muslims are bad” or that “not all of the refugees are apart of ISIS”. Of course they’re right. The refugees are like grapes. If I gave you ten grapes, and told you one of them was poisoned, would you eat any of them? Some people argue that fearing one religious group because of the acts of a few radicals is wrong. A syrian passport was found near one of the assailants in the Paris attacks. It’s safe to assume that one of the terrorists involved in the Paris attacks entered Europe as part of the wave of Syrians fleeing civil

Introduction In 2011, the people of Syria lead protests inspired by the Arab Spring, which quickly lead to bloody civil war. Since the war in Syria began, an estimated 13.5 million Syrians have sought refuge in neighboring countries and further (UNHCR, 2016). The United States has welcomed only a small percentage of these migrants, and recent terror attacks has stirred fear of these refugees to the American people. Current political elections have focused heavily on Syrian refugees and some states have even gone as far as vocalizing their anti-refugee and anti-Muslim policies, refusing to allow refugees to settle in their borders.…

Did you know, since the year 2011 over 250,000 people have died in Syria due to the extremely dangerous conditions of the country? Americans should open their arms to these refugees and let them into our country. These people offer no threat to us, by turning them away, were encouraging the act of terrorism and it goes against our beliefs as Americans. One reason the people should let refugees in the country is that these people offer no harm to the citizens of America. There are a lot of people fleeing from their country because of the living conditions and how unsafe their home is.…

Some people think that we should not allow them in and that they pose to much of a threat. But, the thing is that terrorist want us to not allow them and want us to be scared of them possibly pretending to be a refugee:” It is very important...that we do not close our hearts to these victims of such violence and somehow start equating the issue of refugees with the issue of terrorism” (www.cnn.com). We shouldn’t start being too afraid to help people and start blaming the Syrian refugees for something they don’t mean to cause. When things are too risky and can endanger a lot of people you shouldn’t do it.…

So far thirty one states have said no, they will not allow Syrians to enter their states out of protection for their residents. Reasons all revolve around avoiding the possible terrorists who may exist within the influx of refugees. For example, the governor of Texas says that “security comes first,” and the governor of Mississippi says that the potential idea is “misguided” and “extremely dangerous.” The fact that one of the terrorists involved in the Paris attacks was a Syrian refugee in Europe is horrifying, no doubt.…

As most of the world is aware, Syria has been suffering through four and a half years of civil war, during which 250,000 Syrians have been killed, according to Rodgers et al.. There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight, as both sides- the Syrian government and the rebels- refuse to ceasefire or compromise. In addition, ISIS is making the situation worse through their involvement and frequent use of the war for recruitment. Because civilians have been subject to bombing, sieges, and chemical warfare, about 4.8 million have fled their country (Rodgers et al.). This has caused tension in the global community, as countries attempt to figure out how to accommodate them, if at all.…

Even though some stick to what they say and just want a better life, others are either just living off of welfare provided by the government or they’re attacking the innocent lives of the Europeans. Attacks on European cities like Paris and Brussels let the European Union know that some of the Syrian refugees were actually spies sent by ISIS. When my dad and I were in Europe last summer, we would look in the newspaper and notice that there was a terrorist attack in a European city every other day. One example is a Syrian refugee in Germany that killed a pregnant woman and eight others using a machete. With bad experiences with terrorism already, America should know…

But the federal government ultimately has the final say on whether to allow or refuse them in each state. According to CNN, the Obama administration plans to welcome 10,000 Syrian refugees this year. By allowing that many refugees in, more will come fleeing over creating extra uneasiness in the States. Syrian refugees should not be allowed in the United States because lack of funds, potential terrorism and jobs will be taken away from citizens in the U.S. To begin with, welcoming almost 10,000 refugees into the United States, definitely obligates funding for them.…

America cannot continue to say “us” and “them” because we are all one species sharing a planet. We must help the Syrian refugees out of the human compassion that everyone has. The opposing views of this issue must be able to agree that we must at least aid the refugees still overseas. The United States has already taken in 1,500 refugees and gradual increase in the amount of refugees resettled to the States would please both sides of the conflict. Gradual resettlement would begin with the states willing to take in refugees and then eventually, the rest of the states, as the states do not have actual control over a foreign affairs issue.…
