In our world today, environments are constantly changing. In order for corporations to be successful, they must manage to keep up with changing environments or they will be left in the past. Usually the most successful companies are those that are successful with adapting to change and innovating. United Parcel Service has done just that over the 109 years they’ve been delivering packages to consumers. Their constant reaction to change and innovative culture is the reason they are the worlds largest package delivery company today. Currently, United Parcel Service is facing some challenges, in which they have to find ways to adapt to specific types of change or else their revenues will fall. These specific challenges that the United Parcel Service include, but are not limited to: climate change (becoming more energy efficient), technology advancement, and the holiday season. A major topic for debate this decade has been climate change and ways we can combat global warming. Companies are now beginning to increase their efforts in becoming more energy efficient because they realize that this has potential to be a vital factor in the continuous growth and future success of their …show more content…
They have stated that they are expecting record breaking numbers with over 700 million packages to be delivered between Thanksgiving and New Years Eve of 2016. This is an increase of 14%, based on their delivery numbers from 2015 during the same time period. So, how will UPS handle this massive increase in deliveries? They will remain profitable and equally productive by hiring about 95,000 seasonal employees this holiday season. This will enable UPS to maintain their speed of deliveries to consumers and prevent any unwanted delays, as they experienced last year. Along with hiring the many new seasonal employees, the utilization of ORION will be a pivotal factor in speeding up delivery times and reducing the number of miles
