United Health Care And Optum Summary

This LOTC was about United Health Care and Optum. I do not remember is Mike was a former Carlson student, but I do know that Grant was. These two men were really interesting to listen to because they talked quite a bit about their experience in business school and how they struggled with some of the material. They noted this was mostly because they felt that some information was unimportant. They also stated that now they wish they would have paid attention more because it turns out that almost all of the information actually was important. Another big take away for me was when they discussed how they use different supply chain methods to create a more efficient system.

They discussed how they remembered not caring about a specific subject or did not really understand the importance of knowing specific material, but now when they look back on it they realize how important that information was. I will say that it is really nice to hear from a professional, rather than the professor, how important the material we are studying truly is. I think this is because every professor makes everything they teach sound like it is the most important information in the world, when we realize that not everything can be. Therefore, when a professional says it is important it makes a greater impact. I think this is simply just an overall motivator because now I can never justify not wanting to really understand something because I know that I will probably need it later on in life. I think a great example of this was when they were talking about process mapping and cause and effect diagrams. It may seem ridiculous at times to think that people actually take the time to map all of that out and study it, but in reality they do. It was nice to hear that all of this studying really will pay

While both writings of “ Master Harold” ...and the boys, and Elie Wiesel’s Nobel Lecture included hope, despair ,and memory , it came clear to me that this was true. “Master Harold” and the boys had despair when it came up between Hally and Sam . Hally became unfair and rude towards Sam , when all Sam was doing was speaking the truth. Although Hally had troubles in his family, but he did not have to take it out on Sam.
