Finally, my last lesson will incorporate feminist criticism, more precisely, the theory of gynocriticism. Throughout the story, the students will find instances in the text where Mabel embodies each of the three stages of the gynocriticism theory. These three stages are imitation, internalization, and advocacy and show the perspective of Mabel throughout the story. I will use handout 2.15 from the Johannessen book for my final lesson. I will create character questionnaires for all three stages of the gynocriticism theory; the beginning, middle, and end of the story. At the end of the first lesson my students will be able to identify what constitutes a dynamic character and why. At the end of the second lesson my students will be able identify sensory imagery and metaphors in stories that help to create the setting and tone. Lastly, at the end of the third lesson my students will be able identify the three feminist stages that embody women in literature. The Common Core Standards I will be using to support this unit are:
