The event I attended was the Intercollegiate YMCA Leadership Class; I chose this particular event because I felt it would apply to my major in some way down the line – even if I never particularly become a ‘leader’ of sorts.

As far as being part of a ‘new’ community, I would not be able to pinpoint how that felt down, because I do not quite know if I would describe it that way. Was participating in such an event a new, exciting experience? Absolutely! But at the end of the day, I did not quite feel the community was new, but rather just many different people all there for the same reason: to learn and step forward with their career.
I would definitely participate in this sort of thing again if I had the chance! It was an exciting experience, and I feel I learned a lot from it – even if I have to go back to the PowerPoint (which was e-mailed to everyone in the class) to take better notes due to having forgotten my notebook at home. Overall, I enjoyed it.
