An entrepreneurial activity demands to have courage. When I am starting a venture, I need to have courage in order to take action. This is important because if a leader is not courageous it might not take action. Not taking an action leads to a failure. Leaders that take action succeed in the business world. For example, if I have an idea of a product that might succeed in the market, I have to test it out. If I don’t do it somebody else will do it. Another

Unit 8 Discussion Leadership The story that I am going to tell for this assignment is about an argument of two of my co-workers. Also, I will describe how I could potentially help them to resolve the conflict. For this story, I will name the parties person 1 and person 2. The problem started as a childish confrontation about a misuse of a language. Supposedly, person 1 jokingly used a vulgar and aggressive language to ask person 2 to increase performance and meet the goals demanded by the firm.…

Reflecting on this semester through the lenses of the operations process and troop leading procedures I have gained insight in how these two can aid in making me a more effective military leader. While learning these two concepts have helped during the execution of tasks like teaching labs and preparing for classes it has also made me more analytical about many other tasks I take on. The most significant event that I could apply these two concepts to and describe would be teaching the weapons familiarization and basic rifle marksmanship lab. Overall I believe the lab was successful. We could have improved some of the material and our approach when beginning to plan the creation of the class needed a change.…

I conducted an interview with Tamara Perez, who is currently a director at Smart Starts Preschool. She has an A.A. degree in Early Childhood Education, Staff Credentials, Director Credentials, and has been teaching for 12 years. Becoming a teacher was not exactly what she had in mind. She was going through a rough time in her life and she began working as a teacher.…

Karen Evans gave insight to many entrepreneurial and leadership skills during her presentation. She is a Lawrence Technological University Alumni and an adjunct Professor who started her career in law, then moved into marketing. Her reason for doing so was that “Law sounded fun in theory, but it was terrible in practice” (Evans). She described that college was fun for law, but the actual work was more politics than law. This shows that no matter what path you choose to go through in life, a single event can change your view on a situation.…

Courage as a skill in the business world, is not something that happens over night. Leaders teach themselves over time to make risky decisions. They are great business leaders who progress over the years, but mostly decades and their courageous acts are considered to be calculated risk taking. The author Kathleen Reardon likes to define being able to have clear understanding of an intelligent gamble as courage calculation. She states the meaning as “a method of making success more likely while avoiding rash, unproductive, or irrational behavior” (Reardon, 2007, p.60).…

A leader by definition is one who is the head of a group. While developing into my leadership roles throughout my young adulthood I originally thought I was not a leader because I never fit the dictionary definition of a leader. I was never in charge and never one to boss my group around. I never wanted to be known as a leader because I thought it was somewhat of a selfish title that didn’t fit my personality. However, as I entered college and started the Leadership Program at ECU, I started to realize that I had always been a leader and that the title isn’t selfish it shows selflessness.…

Leadership Reflection Report As a rule when a student first begins their journey to increase their knowledge they are told “everything in you learn in college is vital to your future career.” Stated by many of my own high school advisors, college counselors, and even my own family; I kept that mentality when I walked into my first day of class. This vision that was built for me was instantly shattered when I decided to apply for a work study position in my field of study. I quickly found out that what I was learning in college was 100% not parallel to what I was learning in the position that I was looking towards; it was more like a guide to what to expect, but even then it didn’t compare to what I have learned while working for the UCF-CCC.…
