A new format to view the Strategic Tactical Operational Planning materials was started last year, but individual viewing required an individual ESRI license. Due to the limited number of licenses for Town GIS users, this was not immediately possible. Recently, our Town GIS was issued 100 Viewer Only licenses. Thanks to our Town GIS who recalled my inquiries for licenses for viewing, our department is fortunate to have been given the first opportunity to absorb the majority of the allotted licenses (95 licenses). Unfortunately, this number still falls short to provide access to all PD employees.
This new format requires an individual USERID and PASSWORD. Since the majority of the licenses is being absorbed by the PD, Town GIS has informed me they will monitor usage of each User ID. If a User ID is inactive, meaning the User is not accessing the link(s) for a period of time, they will automatically deactivate that individual’s license in order to keep up with the Town’s demand for these licenses. As a result, I will try to keep up with monitoring employee separations and non-use of individual licenses on a monthly basis in an effort to better distribute licenses to those PD employees without current access. …show more content…
