Problem Identification: The identification of the problem started at the 9 seconds point on the Youtube video. At this time, Mrs. Smith, James’ mother, and I discussed the academic issues her son is having with writing. At 1:22 seconds, Mrs. Smith said James has been struggling with spelling since first grade. 1:36 seconds into the video, test scores show problems with spelling and punctuation. This shows the initial discussion of problems James is having in school. At the 1:56 mark, I state that the testing shows there are problems with spelling and punctuation. These scores provide baseline information for James. Also, spelling and punctuation are quantifiable behaviors which can be observed and measured by his teachers. We were able to confirm James is having issues with writing including spelling and punctuation during our discussion.

This is when his mother starts to describe the issues he is having. At the 1:22 mark, his mother states he struggles with spelling, and he has difficulties with writing which will cause him to have meltdowns. Then at 1:26, she states that his grades and testing seem to be fine. These two points in the video provides background information and behavioral issues she is seeing. The 1:49 mark is where I discuss his test scores and there are deficits in his spelling and punctuation in first through sixth grades. Unfortunately, we did not specifically discuss a hypothesis for these academic deficiencies which may have assisted in creating solutions to the issues. However, it was stated at 1:26 his grades and test scores are okay so he really doesn’t have a reason to want to improve in this area. But, forming a hypothesis for student behavior is something that I personally need to focus. These potential reasons for behaviors assists in creating solutions for the

The question I wish to answer is why BBP formulas are so much better at calculating pi than any other method that came before it. I find it interesting that this method only provides the exact digit of pi in question and does not require the calculation of any of the previous digits of pi. For all of the methods that proceeded it like the polygon approximation and infinite series methods, each digit was required to be calculated before the next one could be found. Another compelling fact is that this avenue of calculating pi has been hypothesized as the key to discovering whether pi is truly random or not. Though it is still unproven as of now so I don’t expect to make any breakthroughs myself, uncovering more about this topic interests me…

Our group, upon reading "The Little Engine that Couldn 't" and collaboration with each other, have decided to explore the student 's lack of performance through Attribution Theory. This theory helps explain why, though given examples and a directive, the students in the room still seem unmotivated to do their work. The students beliefs that they aren 't capable either because of cultural aspects, locus of control, control of their environment, lack of stability in their abilities, or their lack of self-efficacy are causing them not to perform as well as Mr. Esky believes they can. While all four of these aspects play a huge role in the Attribution Theory, I will focus on how the lack of stability in their abilities or their lack of self-efficacy…
