Conflict Management and how it relates to the movie

For this discussion board we have been tasked with, giving an explanation of which conflict management style we observed. The first known fact was; this movie and story line, was about racism and the hard decisions the leaders in this movie had to make. During my viewing of this film, I would defiantly say that each style was used. The first style that stood out to me was the collaborating portion. When conflict arises in any situation, before you can manage it, it’s important to identify what type of conflict you have on your hand. Collaborating Style - The collaborating style of conflict tries to

Prior to this camp, each student lived in there on world of hatred, and brainwashing. We also have to remember that slavery ended in Virginia December 1865, with the Thirteenth Amendment. One hundred and five years had gone by. You would think thing would have been different. So by each student learning the history of each person; only help them all understand the dilemma they had become a part of. Although the movie only shows a snipped of the interaction; I think this conversation was deeper than that. This was the turning point. During my research on the subject of hatred and brainwashing; I ran across some information. I have highlighted this in bold letter. Don’t underestimate how closely our actions as parents are watched, and eventually mimicked, by our kids. If you tend to yell, they yell. If you beat them with a belt, they’ll lash out physically at others as well. If you lie a lot, don’t expect them to be amazing little truth tellers. So it doesn’t take much effort for a parent who hates an ex-wife or ex-husband to get his or her young child to join in fully on the hatred bandwagon. That’s deep and by watching this movie. I think this was the catalyst for the behavior displayed. “2012 by John Thomas in Exposing the

He points out that most organizations attempt to avoid all conflict; and therefore, leaders never communicate what they really think which breads mistrust and employee angst. Therefore, in an attempt to teach readers how to master conflict, Lencioni displays The Conflict Continuum which show the difference between destructive and constructive conflict. His point is that a cohesive leadership team needs to remain right in the middle not attempting to alleviate the tension, but rather use that tension to unearth the best ideas and solutions. I will select my present manager and the conflict management style they currently use is the collaborating conflict style. An example that my present manager uses is how my manager works towards developing a relationship with the entire team as well as trust. Since the entire team develops trust within each other, all sides will better negotiate with each other by being more willing to change their way of thinking as more information is being found and new options open up. The parties involved work together through hard feelings and animosity. I tend to use the collaborate conflict management style as well because it is important that everyone involved in the conflict, trust in one another and work together to achieve the goal in mind.…

I have encountered many different types of conflict styles while working in groups. The conflict styles are competing, avoiding, and collaborating. For example, my current team has two individuals with two strong personalities who are clearly competing for who is always has the answer, who is always right, the first to speak, etc. There is a person on the team who does not participate in coming up with ideas to help make our team have a boost in moral. This person does not speak up and when asked a question, they shrug their shoulders.…

These theories allow one to view the manifest and latent functions of the show, and see how it fits into and interacts with society. In this theory, individuals are motivated to preserve social inequities and see their ingroup’s as dominant over other groups. These individuals are likely to show patterns of favoritism towards their ingroup, and could also derogate and dehumanize members of outgroups. Many examples of the Social Dominance theory are seen towards the treatment of Jews. One example in the film is while the Nazis are shooting and killing all the Jews in the ghetto. During this scene, dehumanization towards the Jews is displayed by the Nazis trapping Jews that are hiding and then shooting them.…

One example of conflict management that can be identified in the movie comes up towards the end of the movie, when the Centers for Disease Control need to decide who will get the vaccination for the virus and when.
