The power of sports reaches beyond just the talent of the players, it is a marketing giant that produces millions of dollars each year. When a new owner buys a team there are six rights that come with the monopoly gains to provide specific games in an area (Kern, 2011). The first of three rights that are more prevalent are gate, stadium, and television revenues. Next right is any revenues that can be extracted from players, and last one is a share of league wide national television contract revenues.
The surrounding areas are impacted by the gate, stadium, and televisions revenues by the location of the stadium in reference to central located business. Gate prices determines popularity, and televisions revenues is based on how well the team
