How do you manage for innovation? Innovation is managed through shared knowledge, supporting new ideas for improvement and insuring that new concepts fall in line with mission requirements and responsibilities. Innovation is the driving force for sustainability. Through innovative practices, FPS improves upon security services through advancements in technology to provide the stakeholders with a more efficient and effective product. Innovation improves the agency’s best practices, therefore enhancing law enforcement and security services. In regards to FPS physical security initiatives, it is imperative to stay current with technological advances in security systems to mitigate risks to federal facilities. Innovation has provided the agency with better ways of effectively implementing security measures to protect federal facilities through upgrades in …show more content…
By effectively utilizing internal and external resources that can provide additional support for added operational expenditures such as travel and lodging for deployable operations. A majority of training is conducted in house, thus minimizing added expenses for outside contracting. Developing a spending plan that incorporates additional costs for projected operations can dramatically reduce unnecessary expenditures. FPS also uses Activity Based Costing (ABC) analysis, which enables FPS to address future workforce requirements, identify gaps in staffing and assist mangers in making decisions regarding funding allocations.
2) How do you manage your supply chain? Mission support allocates a specific amount of funding based on additional projected requirements for field operations. This includes covering costs for contracted security services at specific federal facilities. These contracts are managed by mission support and monitored by the Contracting Officer (CO) which insures services are rendered in accordance with the service contract
