Currently employed with a not for profit organization, we utilize the quality improvement program Kaizen in conjunction with the 5S model. Kaizen is the concept of continuous improvement whereas the 5S model focuses on Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain or what we refer to as workplace organization. The way we approach improvements is to provide Kaizen events where managers and employees implement the workplace organization within the backroom. This is when sorting starts with the discarding or donating of unnecessary items. Straightening and shine to us, means cleaning all work areas of debris and ensuring
