2. Community Health (M2)
A community is a group of people bind together as a result of their shared values, believes, interest and geographical location; members have a sense of belonging. Its main features include social system, population and location. Health according to the World Health Organization is a state of complete physical mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Community health focuses on health improvement, enhancing life span and efficiency through well-structured efforts hence, preventing various categories of diseases and disabilities .The aim is to help in enhancing individualized, group, family and community health standard and meeting basic health needs. All these are put together in order to be able to have a sense of direction in planning and organizing beneficial programs to meet the immediate and subsequent community pressing needs. My organization also uses this during health outreaches to other communities outside its vicinity.
Current Related Researches
According to Mikkonen and Raphael (2010), social determinants of health is highly affected by the type of policies a country’s Political leader makes and this vary across the globe. Governments of many first world countries know the health implications of individual life style and environment hence they have taken it upon themselves to bridge the gap between health differences across the social ladder.
Usefulness to the Current World
It helps in enhancing healthy ways of living thereby reducing the frequency of occurrence of some diseases while prevent others from occurring; through measures such as immunizations. Furthermore, the health gaps resulting from various social determinants (geographical location, social status, education etc.) which can be detrimental to health have been minimized in some countries and the fight is still on to make it
