ESA #6A Task 1

1(a) Use the Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence to analyze the selected school’s operational policies and procedures and then provide a written evaluation with rationales of those policies and procedures.

Reviewing the easyInsight:Baldrige Self-Assessment provided clearer understanding into the level of knowledge of the current Buckeye Career Center principal compared to myself. In terms of quantification, the principal answered 86% of the questions easily with the other 14% falling into the “could answer” category. In comparison, I found myself much less prepared to clearly answer many of the questions (63% Easily or could answer and 37% difficult to answers). As Buckeye Career Center is a career technical school, the mission and vision lend themselves a clarity that local school districts may not have. “The mission of the Buckeye Career Center is to prepare youth and adults to make informed career choices and to successfully enter, compete, and advance in the

One strength of the the organization is its ability to review and update policy as necessary. In the past year, both the technology handbook has been updated changing the student incentive portion of the 1:1 program and the attendance policy has been improved by changing statement that may have led to exclusion of students (no dreadlocks). The policy with the most flexibility is (from my perspective) is the absence policy. The policy states clearly when students will be removed from the school for lack of attendance but in reality the school provides a number of chances beyond what is defined in the written policy for students to make up time and stay at BCC. While the flexibility of the policy can be described in terms of helping the individual student, the truth is that BCC, as a school of choice, must find ways to retain students in the current

When the new superintendent demonstrated a collaborative leadership style by forming a Principal interview team that included both veteran and new teachers to choose the new principal, it well-received; therefore, as the new principal, following through with a similar collaborative style would likely be successful. In my perspective, the principal needs to develop a strategic plan that creates a shared vision and goals with a variety of stakeholders, provides professional development for the staff to achieve those goals, and reaches into the community to develop partnerships and positive relationships.…

Some have said that the policy should be discontinued because it violated student’s rights, but truth be told, the surveys listed have disproved this argument. To add, the policy was only severely harsh to help those who could have eventually landed themselves in jail. Without the help of this policy, the student body wouldn’t feel safe, and the troubled students wouldn’t think twice before drinking or causing violence, because instead of leaving school with the police, they’ll have a chance to do better…

Introduction First and foremost I would like to thank Walters Elementary for allowing me the opportunity to discuss and analyze discipline data. As a current candidate for the Principal position, I appreciate the chance to delve deeper into systems that are already in place and potentially aid in the development and implementation of plans to come. I hope that my analysis will help in shedding some light on, and possibly providing some guidance in regards to, disciplinary issues that have been trending over the course of the last three years. If selected for the position, I expect us as a team to find some common ground on which we can build future Positive Behavioral Support Systems for the students of Walter Elementary. Upon initial review, Walters Elementary student demographic is primarily African American.…

I was observing students between 9 A.M. and 12P.M. on a Monday morning, September 12, 2016. I was able to observe about 15 current and prospective students. The college is located in Central City area neighborhood on Buckeye and 12 street, and most of the students at this campus are considered to be “at-risk” students. The student population of Gateway is very diverse, but they have a lot of similarities as well.…

When looking at the weaknesses of Remington College, the first weakness that must be evaluated is the small classroom size that offers its students the one on one teacher student connection as they move to on-line classes room settings. The reason that I say this is a weakness is that his connection could be lost in the on-line classroom environment leaving students to feel that the organization and its leadership is not connected with them as students (McHenry & McCall, 2014). The lack of connection in the school’s leadership is one that needs to be addressed by the direction as the program grows and focus on the needs of the students and staff (Werry, 2002). The leadership of the organization must ensure that the concerns of the students…

The assessor will need to decide the methods or activities to be used for assessment such as observations, performance evidence, discussion or witness/learner statement. How knowledge and understanding is going to be assessed also needs careful thought and could include tests, multiple choice questions, written assignment/task, a reflective journal, verbal questioning or naturally occurring evidence, all of which need to be fit for purpose and relate to the learner’s specific needs. Further considerations for assessment planning are to determine who will be assessing the learning/learner and how progress will be monitored and reviewed following feedback. 3.2 Evaluate the benefits of using a holistic approach to…

According to the article “The Classroom Environment” the environment a school creates “shapes how teachers and students will feel, think, and behave, and its qualities can have a lasting effect on our lives.” For these reasons, the environment in which a school creates plays a very important role in many peoples lives: the students, their families, the teachers, and the community. It can either work for or against those involved, which is why it is always one of the main concerns for schools. A predominately white (97.6%) elementary school located in rural Illinois that serves students aged pre-kindergarten through fifth grade has an average class size of roughly 26 students and a total school enrollment of approximately 174 students. The school district contains two separate buildings, one being the elementary building and the other the junior high and high school combined.…
