Among the top 10 most popular websites all over the world, 5 of them are social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Statistics has shown that there is a huge amount of users using social media services everyday, Facebook has more than 700 million active monthly users, users of Twitter has passed the line of 300 million, as for YouTube, there are over 3 billion views of its videos every single week. And these numbers are still increasing significantly.
So obviously, social media along with the era of web2.0 has permeated into every corner of our daily lives.

Lets take traditional marketing industry for example. TV commercials and ads printing are totally obsolete and it usually cost a lots of money, nevertheless, with the help of social media, traditional companies can connect with their designer and targeted customers at a very low cost of money.
Of course there are way more positive sides that social media has brought and changed with our lives. But that is not the main part that I wanna point out in this paper, instead, I wanna focus a little bit more on the negative consequences that it also brought, the bad or even kind of ugly side.
First of all, social media network leads to addiction easily especially for teenagers and kids. Spending too much time on social media sites could easily distract them from doing their assignment or studying.
Second, social media sites users shared too much of them own information that they have no idea whom will obtain these information and when will they turn it against themselves in the future. I know most of the sites have their claimed safe security system of personal information, but we actually have heard a lot of things happened like someone’s twitter account got hacked and hundreds of sensitive pictures were leaked, or someone’s email account was hacked and things like
