In the event of a car accident, you may decide to settle out of court or go to trial. Settlements outside of court are seen as more favorable because both parties have the opportunity to come to an agreement on a suitable amount. However, at a trial, a judge puts together a judgement. This is a court ruling that stipulates how much is awarded in damages and who is required to pay this amount. If you are awarded damages from an uninsured driver, then expect them to pay for the damages out of pocket. This can be difficult for them to do, especially if the damages are high. As a result, some drivers may avoid paying the amount owed. Fortunately, there are three tips you can use to collect money from an uninsured driver.

This step should only be taken if the driver refuses to cooperate.
