The Scanner: A Short Story

Chris Gardner and his wife at the time, Linda, invested in a portable bone density scanner a medical device that gave a slightly better picture then what an x-ray could but in a price range it was double. What they didn’t know was they invested in the scanner while the doctors and hospitals stopped using them saying it was not necessary. This sent them into financial trouble as they put their life savings into this revolutionary machine. Linda had to work overtime and pick up extra shifts while Chris had to sell as many of the scanner that where piled up in their house to make a living. Then he got kicked out of his motel room as of before he again didn’t pay rent to. Not knowing what to do or where to go they venture to the train station. Being Chris the caring and loving as he is came up with an idea to distrait his son, to make him think they time travelled to dinosaur age instead of thinking of what just happened to them. At the end of the day they were still homeless and had to sleep in a small toilet in the train station. Then for the next few night to come slept in a church that gave shelter and food (the basic needs). In such need of money gave blood to get some. With as little as he had bought a replacement for his scanner so it could work again he did just that and sold it doing so raising the number in his bank account. After all the excruciatingly hard work he had sold thirty one accounts for them from Pacifist the company. That unforgettably day the hiring comity choice Chris to be a new part of the business. The unthinkable happen Chris Gardner sold a minority stake in a multi-million dollar deal in his brokerage film.

These people are forced to stay in a stable job not able to follow their dreams or even start their own business. An Intreprenear has an idea but does not know how to further it from that, an entrepreneur has a idea and furthers it and that is exactly what Chris did with the internship. The entrepreneurial skills they have acquired are used to the advantage of their employers. Then the Entrepreneurship is a risk taker and risks personal assets. Chris is an Entrepreneur as he risks everything as he might not have gotten the job and he doesn’t even get an income while he is an intern. Chris went out to change their future , as if he never went out to go find a job they would have been in financial
