Recently, on November 10, 2016, a student that attended San Diego University in California was attacked and discriminated against because of her Muslim religion. The author of this article wants us as American 's to understand the "cry for help" that America needs. This world is falling apart because of everybody 's ignorance. These three heartless attacks on Muslim women was an unnecessary act, which could 've resulted in death. Religion and ethnicity is portrayed in a negative way in which being Muslim is not accepted and believing in what you have the right to believe in is not acceptable. The dominant factor behind these crimes were because these girls were Muslims. These attackers specifically targeted Muslims. However, one the main lesson that I 've learned is that people are showing their true colors ever since Donald ran for president. While the prejudice this poor girl faced is uncannily close to those faced by Hester Prynne and thousands of other puritans it definitely does not represent the global society as a whole. As if to prove this point, once the the horrific news of the brutal execution of the 19 year old girl, the western world and even the afghanistan responded with criticism and spite for the barbaric acts of these humans. “Western embassies and human-rights groups denounced the attack as another example of abusive treatment of women by the Taliban. President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan called it a “heinous act” and ordered an investigation,” (Nordland). Acts such as those show that every story and situation has two sides to it, especially ones involving the media.…

Plausibly, the most important reason for opposing honor killing is religious. Most people plea that Islam is the cause of such shameful acts since there are a lot of killing cases done by Muslim people or in Islamic countries. Iftikhar(2016) reported Imam Zaid Shakir who said that in Islam there is nothing called honor killing and killing blameless women just because they did not follow their parents’ wishes is like cold-blooded murder and “ there is no legitimate Islamic religious authority who can argue”.…

The media shouldn’t be playing into any kind of stereotypes, because that just encourages racism and further divides our country. For the Muslims it’s a double edged sword, because they are either overlooked completely in the media, or depicted terribly.
