Some people believe that women should not get equal pay when doing same work as men because women leave work to give birth. Although women leave the workforce for maternity relief, they should not be missing out on a substantial amount of money; however, they could just not get paid for the days they have missed. Paying women less than men is both discouraging and inhumane. Women work as hard as their male counterparts as they sacrifice their time and energy. Society thinks that women get paid less because they cannot do the work that is physical and mental. However, in many instances, women have proven this wrong. Mae Jamison became the first African American woman to go out in space as an astronaut. This illustrates that women have always been able to make achievements, even when a job is male-dominated. Regardless of what field women pursue their career or job, whether it is a nurse or teacher, even when it is low earnings, they should get paid equal to men when achieving the same thing.
