Undisclosed Vs Serial

Great Essays
Undisclosed and Serial are two podcasts that devote their time to the murder of Hae Min Lee on January 13th, 1999. Their goal is to dive deeper into the case and the currently convicted killer, Adnan Syed. Is Adnan Syed the real killer? Maybe. However, if he is the real killer, he had to have had help. That is where Jay Wilds comes in. Jay was a former student at the high school Hae and Adnan attended. Jay and Adnan were not close; they were mere acquaintances with mutual friends. Jay plays a huge part in the story; however, due to the fact that he claims to have known what Adnan was up to on that January day. Jay even, testified that he helped Adnan bury Hae's body. If all of this is true, then Jay should currently be locked in a jail cell next to Adnan. Yet, Jay got off with absolutely no jail time. After reading and listening to Undisclosed, it is evident that Jay’s word put Adnan where he is today, despite the multiple discrepancies in Jay’s story and demeanor. Author of Serial, Sarah Koenig, “was a newspaper reporter for ten years, covering mostly politics and criminal justice” (Serial). Now with her Serial podcast she has gotten more attention than ever. She is the one who …show more content…
Jennifer was brought in for questioning as well; and after comparing her story with Jay’s, it became apparent that their statements did not match what the State found. For example, both Jenn and Jay say over and over again, “he left the house at 3:30, 3:40.” Jenn says as late as 4:15 even. But the State’s theory of the case is that Hae was dead by 2:35, and the “come and get me call” was made at 2:36 p.m.” Yet the police overlooked that “minor” detail in the course of events. The ultimate goal for Jay and Jennifer was to have a solid alibi for that day, because “if Jenn and Jay were together until 3:40 p.m. like they say, then neither can be responsible for her murder” (Undisclosed). Therefore, they could both be framing

I don't believe John committed the murder since the crime scene was remarkably sloppy. There are two main pieces of evidence that bring me to this conclusion the location of her blouse and her bruises. Even John is her abusive ex husband he still a cop who is familiarized with the knowledge of crime scene protocol and arson crimes the sloppiness of the crime illustrates lack of knowledge. He would know that investigators would find the blouse when doing a search of the house. Basic police education would provide him with the knowledge that strangulation and bruises would be distinguishable on burned…

All writers are passionate about writing. Few writers, however, are fortunate enough to make a living off of their calling, or even to publish a book. In today 's modern world of consumerism, being an author on a full-time basis is no longer an option for more than an elite few. The majority of published authors are also productive members of society in another sense, taking on some other form of gainful employment. To find out more about this double life of an author, I managed to procure an interview with Struan Sinclair, who on top of being a professor at the University of Manitoba, has published three books, with a fourth currently in the publishing process.…

Trust in the justice system revolves around the idea that courts uphold our laws, convict the guilty, and protect the innocent. When the people running the court, are more corrupt than the people being tried, what becomes of the court? This question comes to mind while viewing the documentary The Thin Blue Line. This film successfully argues that a man was wrongly convicted for killing a police officer by a corrupt justice system in Dallas County, Texas. It presents the evidence the police used, who were under extreme pressure to clear the case, in order to build on a point that the circumstantial evidence was very flimsy.…

First time novelist but long time comedian Amy Schumer has captured my attention yet again. I love her stand up so I knew I was going to enjoy her book, but I had no idea I would love is as much as I did. The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo being one of many books written by comedians I have read, I fully expected it to be like all of the others, but I was so wrong. Similar to other comedian-turned-authors, Schumer opened up about the struggle to break into the industry, her sexual history, and sexism in the industry, but unlike others she touched on so much more than that.…

The second reason I think Adnan must be innocent is because there are too many inconsistencies that Jay provides during his testimony while being interviewed by the police. Jay provides many stories, which sometimes do not match up to Adnan’s story or to the stories he provides. There were many inconsistencies that did not make sense, of which I will share the 3 that I found most important, which you can find in episode 4 called “Inconsistencies". The…
