Underwater welding is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, with a 15% fatality rate. Most deaths coming from getting shocked underwater. 15% of people die on the job when underwater welding. Most welders work for about 6 months then live off that pay for the rest of the year. Many sources also believe that underwater welding is the most dangerous job in the world. The fatality rate and low pay also make it not a very desired job.

Underwater welders 15% fatality; “There is a potential for electrical shocks, explosions because of the hydrogen and oxygen in pockets of air, and nitrogen diffuse in your blood”(Underwater-welding for saving while rescuing). The nitrogen can diffuse into your blood by the nitrogen first diffusing over your membrane of your lungs, then getting into your blood. The diffusion of nitrogen into your blood is also called decompression. This supports my thesis as for it shows the dangers of underwater welders and what they face everyday. The dangers of underwater welding are not the only reason why people don’t want to go into the underwater welding business.
