Someone having a better scientific understanding doesn’t necessarily make them a smarter person but it gives them a better understanding of the world around us. This usually does however give them higher chances at succeeding in solving some of the world’s problems. Not only have they solved world problems they have also led way to many innovations. For example, in an article by Understanding Science, a University of California Museum of Paleontology website said, “Your digital alarm clock, the weather report, the asphalt you drive on, the bus you ride in, your decision to eat a baked potato instead of fries, your cell phone, the antibiotics that treat your sore throat…have all been brought to you courtesy of science. The modern world would not be modern at all without the understandings and technology enabled by science.” Even on a personal scale, I believe that knowledge of the world can improve personal life. From knowing how to calculate monthly expenses to fixing problems around the house, knowing the science can lead in more efficient results. Sure plenty of animals can be taught things such as how to save a life to how to operate a machine. This however still leaves the question of how would we have taught these animals such skills without obtaining that knowledge ourselves.
