It is important for social workers to assess communities and specifically understand the dynamics of families living within them. This helps social workers with advocating for what is lacking in the community that citizens not be aware of how to act on. Generally, perceiving the community for what it is by being fully immersed in the culture/community gives social workers the opportunity to effectively support families and individuals in need to create or keep synergy within these interdependent systems. In order to keep these systems organized, it is imperative that social workers are able to identify positive and negative energies that are created or absorbed into the community.

Demographics
This community has a makeup of 70% of the population being Black, 25% white, and less than 5% non-white. While walking around the neighborhood, however, I did not see these demiraphiics and was suprissed by how much of the back community makes up the aea,. I did not sense the tension I expected when meeting with police officers. and his staff talkd about how they enjoy community actuves and the outpour of appreciation and lve received from residents in the city. The turnout to their events and generous gifts givern to the police deparment prove the citixz4ens to feel protected by the police force. Citizens feek cimfritbake reporting to the police department abd trust that they are “…In it for the right reasons” as reported by a local imformant. Although the style of policing isn’t the “community policing” described by Janson, there is not too much strain between the community and the police
