Understanding Rotter’s concept of locus of control would be helpful when making a hiring decision for a supervisor/business owner/administrator to ensure they are hiring competent, reliable people that can fulfill the job description. If a person that was hired believes that things happened to them for a reason and they have no or little control and think that the outcome of things cannot be changed (eternal locus of control) this person may not have much to help better a business or company with that train of thought. They might not be as assertive to make changes and get a job done. A person who believes that they can make a difference and reflects on situations that are both good and bad will most likely try harder and be successful. They
