My core values are commitment, fairness and respect for others, and to have trust and love for one another. My most important core value is to have honesty and love. Legal and Ethical Issue Awareness I was able to acquire knowledge and skills on how to write a contract and budget, the overall cycle of presenting it to the owner and how to appropriately negotiate and assign risk. While I did not work directly with risk management and ethical issues, I gained some experience in contracts. When I first arrived to my internship, they were in the process of assisting in the designing of the hospital expansion. Therefore they were continuously keeping track of how much various things might cost the owner, and beginning the contract to ensure that everything necessary was outlined in the contract. This included the listing the items excluded by the contract, the budget summary showing where money was being spent and what was included in the contract.…

When I was a teenager I worked in a donut shop. It so happened that the place was sold to a family and was not a corporately owned. In the hope of saving money, they decided to cut labor and asked the hostess’ to do all the cleaning, including the washrooms. The age I was at cleaning was not my cup of tea, therefore, I made it clear to the owners I will do everything else, but clean the washrooms, as I don’t even do that at home, and my mom wouldn’t even let me. The owner’s reply was, “you people should be used to that kind of work, what do you mean you can’t do it,” and a whole lot of other inappropriate things that I won’t get into.…

Making Ethical Decisions For me, ethical decisions take careful consideration and a great deal of critical thinking. I try to think of multiple outcomes that my ultimate decision may cause, as well as my confidence in that decision. If I don’t feel completely comfortable with a decision that I’ve made, then it’s an indication I need to analyze the situation and possibly more before coming to a final conclusion. When this option isn’t available, due to time constraints or other hindrances, I put the hope that I have made the right decision and await the consequences in order to verify that hope.…
