Lupus is an auto-immune disease that has been diagnosed more frequently as the research into this disease has progressed over the last 20 years. For many year doctors struggled with understanding this disease and diagnosing patients was difficult, sometimes resulting in misdiagnosis. The treatments used for the disease have gone from extremes, from chemotherapy to holistic medicine. I am excited to see the progress that has been made in research, diagnosing and treatment of this disease to better educate myself on its entirety.
