Is there a hard and fast rule that specific parenting styles trigger a set of certain assured behaviour from children? No, there isn’t always. Exceptions exist; therefore the expected behavioural outcomes from children may not occur. The environment in which the children grow also has an impact on their behaviour, an important factor to be taken into consideration.
But largely yes, style of parenting does have an impact on the behaviour of children. It is an essential indicator to understand a child’s behaviour. Developmental psychologists have researched on this for a long time. Psychologist Diana Baumrind in the early 1960s conducted a study and identified four important dimensions of parenting. They are:
