Underage Drinking Under 21

In today’s world underage drinking is not an issue taken lightly by most people. It is a serious issue. No matter what you might think the actual drinking age should be, the fact of the matter is that you cannot drink alcohol if you are under twenty one. This is something that I obviously did not take very serious. The outcome of my choice wasn’t the end of the world, but I think it definitely changed the way I look at drinking underage. I may not have taken it is as serious as I should have, but as I near the age of 21 I think I learned enough to at least recognize that it is in fact dangerous, illegal, and really not even worth it. When you drink, not matter how old you are, you often are putting yourself in a bit of danger. For one, alcohol is not good for the body. Alcohol is indeed a drug and may not be detrimental but overall it’s causing more harm to your body than good. This fact is emphasized when you are underage. Our bodies are still developing, our brains are far too young for a harmful substance like alcohol. While you’re underage, you’re still growing and when you use drugs at this point in your life it is more likely that they impact your entire life. The brain is actually much more vulnerable to addiction during youth years. Most Americans with a substance abuse problem started smoking, drinking or using other drugs before the age of eighteen. There is no denying that it is absolutely dangerous and illegal. It can lead to so many unwanted things like unprotected sex, a black out, breaking other laws, and even consequences at home. I made the mistake once, but now I see what underage drinking can really do and I think it is clear to myself and should be to the general public that it really isn’t worth
