The Pressures
As a parent with a student attending Mission University, it has saddened me to learn that the college I have proudly entrusted with child’s education, has been ranked as the #1 party school. I think this is irresponsible of the University to allow this to be published as it will give students, both current and future, a distorted view of the college. Although university administrators have expressed their disdain, some of the students are proud of the ranking and don’t see anything wrong with it. This is almost as bad as peer pressure. Another pressure is when children pick up the habit of drinking as a coping mechanism by watching their parents. This behavior then becomes a way a child will deal with his or her problems. High school, for some, is a very stressful environment and it is easy for children to fall into this habit just to make it through high school. Another influence is peer pressure.
