Under the Sea The audience cheers & claps with satisfaction for all of our hard work. It all began a few months ago at lunch. My friend Medina & I were talking about he upcoming musical at pinewood, "The Little Mermaid." Medina told me that audition dates & told me to go with her on day two. I wasn't available on any of the days of the auditions. This made me very agitated. I was looking forward to the musical all year. I asked the coordinator of there was any other alternatives. She said yes, stage crew. I took the idea of stage crew into consideration. I figured, it is better than not being apart of the musical at all. You don't need to audition for stage crew, you sign up. I went to the sign up along with around twenty other …show more content…
I needed to know how the story changed, the scenery changed, props were different, or anything like that. It was hard work. My friends all made the musical also. The practices were enjoyable and everyone was so energetic and cheerful. The practices were usually from 3:15-5. They even went to 7:00 when we were behind or needed practice. sometimes. Our longest practice was from 11:00-5:00 one Saturday before the shows started. After many days and long hours of practice we start to get closer to the show dates. The night before our first show we had a lengthy and demanding practice. The morning of the show we all got to school and walked to the high school. We went over our lines and started the show. It was a success. All of the shows are lots of fun & we have the whole auditorium filled. Even though are very stressful they are still enjoyable of course, even if it doesn't seem like it. The last show is here. It is of course, another success. The audience goes crazy. They loved us, they all cheer and applaud. It's so nice hearing the enjoyment of people and the the pleasure the get from watching us, it made us all so happy. When the crowd settles down , we all walk out to bow, they cheer some more. When everyone clears out we go to the after party where we all share expiriences and the memories that we will never

At that time a cast member would come stand next to someone in the audience and read off a paper tablet like he just googles an answer. That little action would make the audience laugh and probably get their attention. Another thing I would take from this play is to have fun and enjoy what my work of art. You could tell they all enjoyed working together and had fun while performing. Even the people working the lights to the producers all had a smile on their face and you could tell they really…

Through my attendance of a rehearsal a few weeks prior to the performance I garnered a general idea of what to expect. Throughout the duration of the rehearsal most of the actors seemed extremely familiar with their roles in terms of lines and stage directions. Most of the rehearsal was just making small tweaks to make the actors more comfortable and working on the fluidity of the stage directions. For example working on certain stage directions so actors were not in the way of each other when another actor had a stage direction. I approached this experience with a very open mind, and the time spent learning about theater in the classroom helped immensely with the understanding of this production.…

In 2012 I arrive at a place called First Stage at 3:30 in a room filled with over 150 kids. I have to check in at a desk and a lady takes my picture and then gives me 2 forms to fill out. I give them to my mom as I am too jittery to write or even think. I’m auditioning for a play called To The Promised Land, and I’ve fallen in love with it’s script. At this moment there is nothing more that I want them to be cast as the main character named Ruth.…

Becoming a member of any school activity is an amazing path to building friendships and character. The more involved I am, the more I can improve. One such activity that I actively involve myself in every year is the school musical. The musical cast works very hard, but the days and hours we practice interfere with some school clubs I take part in. This doesn’t stop me from everything.…

Though I am grateful for my midwestern upbringing, I cannot deny the pushes and pulls of the heritage that propels me to look beyond Milwaukee. Every year my family has two Thanksgivings. We have, what you could call, the “traditional” American Thanksgiving then we do it all again the “Dominican way”. This tradition is something that represents both parts of my ethnicity really well. My mother is from the west coast and was brought up in a very traditional European manner.…

I wasn’t as ready as I thought I was. Despite my ineptitude, I eventually rose to the challenge of making exceptional theatre. At first, I felt completely mentally dislocated. Our first production was a haunted house. This required an ungodly amount of work that needed to be done by my inexperienced group of footsoldiers and I was dreading my leadership skills.…

I was the stage manager and a performer in two sections of the show. I needed to make sure that everyone had their music, choreography or act ready before rehearsal. I also had to make sure that what ever they wear was school appropriate, even if the outfit was from the original part of that culture. I still sure things were still happening even if I couldn’t be at a certain time and place for illness reasons. I don’t tolerate anything with less effort, especially when it comes to the main projects I have in…

Am I reading this correctly? Our children are working behind the scene and you want the "behind the scene" parents to make props and volunteer our time for a performance where we will never see our children take the stage? Do you really think that you should be asking the 21 moms who will see their child the least for the most help? If a more inclusive play had been chosen then I'd be more than willing but this play highlights a few and leaves way too many on the sidelines. Having 21 stagehands really diminishes their importance and proves what a poor choice this play is for a grade of 80+ students.…
