have chosen the constellation Aries. Aries looks like a ram in the night sky. The reason that I have chosen it is because it is my Zodiac constellation. It it the 39th largest constellation out of the recognized 88, making it a mid sized constellation. The Chinese see it as twin inspectors, and in the Marshall islands they see it as a porpoise, not a ram. Aries is night a very bright constellation, there are only 3 stars in it that are considered to be luminous.

In the babylonian myth, there was a King, and his two kids. Their names were Phrixus and Helle. They had a stepmother named Ino who hated them so much, she tricked the people into wanting to sacrafice Phrixus and Helle. When the two kids were about to die, the cloud nymph Nephele,

Billy Joe was a sad ram. "I want to be famous" said Billy Joe. So Billy Joe went to talk to the bull, Bully Bob. Bully Bob said, "You can only be famous if you are seen by the whole world". But Billy Joe was only a ram. So he went to talk to Tiny Tim the Tortoise. Tiny Tim the Tortoise said, "You can be famous if you believe". Billy Joe didn't know what Tiny Tim the Tortoise meant. So he talked to Dug Dog. "Just remember that once you are famous it will be very hard to become normal again" said Dug Dog, who was famous on a farm himself. Billy Joe went and sat down near his favorite rock and thought about all that he had learned that day. "Hmm, let's see here" the thought, "How can the whole world see me? I know, I can go high up in the sky and wave to everyone! They will see me as a super star. Wait, that it, I can be a star! But how am I going to do that?" He kept thinking, "I have to believe". So Billy Joe trained hard at his jumping skills every day until he could jump high enough to be a star. "I think I have it" he said to himself one day, "I am going to be a star!" So he jumped up as high as he could, and as he felt the change come upon him, transforming him into a star, he remembered what the the third animal, Dug Dog, had

It also lies in the direction of the center of our Milky Way galaxy, and being in such a dense part of the sky is packed with many interesting astronomical objects worth observing. 2.…

My favorite constellation is Scorpius ("The Scorpion") due to the fact that I am a Scorpio (my birthday is November 15th). Scorpius is the southernmost constellation out of all the Zodiac constellations and is near the center of the Milky Way. Also, the red star, Antares, is located where the Scorpion's heart is supposed to be. The star is red because it should be going out soon. The Scorpion's heart may either turn into a black hole (which many describe our hearts to be like) or a new star.…

Many ancient civilizations worshipped the sun, stars, and the moon, believing it would bring them closer to their gods. In Assyrian and Babylonian civilizations, they gazed up into the sky each night and recorded what they saw. They realized that the stars orbited in the same way each night. “They soon learnt to recognize those that seemed fixed to the vault of heaven, reappearing each night in the same place. And they saw shapes in the constellations and gave them names” (Gombrich, 20).…

I have chosen Cancer as my favorite constellation because it is the sign I was born under. Latin for "crab", it is the dimmest of all the zodiac constellations and used to be the Sun's most northerly position in the sky. It is located in between Gemini (to its west) and Leo(to its east). It is best known among stargazers as home of Praesepe, an open cluster. Cancer is most well known in Greek mythology as the crab sent by the goddess Hera to help the hydra kill Heracles.…

Once upon a time, in the city of Corinth, there lived a king named Phineus and all of his people. The people were struggling to survive in the dry climate due to a recent drought that Hera had brought to the city as a result of Zeus having relations with one of the citizens. Initially the citizens of Corinth started praying to Poseidon the god of the sea in hopes that he would bring rain to their city; however, Poseidon refused because he was still upset that Medusa had been killed. Therefore they started praying to Zeus, the god of the sky, asking that he bring rain to stop the drought. Zeus knew that if he brought rain Hera would make conditions worse for the people of Corinth.…

The Cetus is a constellation made up of 88 stars and the brightest star is called Deneb Kaitos. The Cetus is very close to the other zodiac constellations such as Aries, Pisces and Aquarius. The creation story of the Cetus constellation stems from Greek mythology. In this story the Cetus is called a Sea Monster and not a whale.…
