Uncle Willie is a black man who lives in Stamps Arkansas. I wanted to choose him because I wanted to learn more about him because of his disabilities. He is a very poor guy who works at a store in his town for very little money an hour. He has a few disadvantages in life compared to other people. Other people who see him make fun of him because he doesn't look the same as them.
He is almost disabled. When he sits down he looks like a giant black Z. He sits this way because of his back. When he stands up he has to always lean on something because he is disabled and will fall over if he has no balance. He has a overgrown right hand and a very small left hand. He had this since he was born. Other people think about Uncle Willie as a sensitive mean guy, a poor crippled, he is very demanding, he is very strict, very impatient, and he wants everyone to follow his rules.

Willie’s vigorous footsteps and panting suggests his desperation to leave for a long time, and now running as fast as he can to leave. The non-diegetic sound of water flowing is relaxing which implies his success in finding his freedom; to escape and return back to Broome. At the end of the day, Willie approaches a group of Aboriginal men who surrounds a campfire under a bridge. The protagonist is then introduced to Uncle Tadpole who is usually portrayed as someone cheerful and optimistic. The very faint background music helps the mood of the scene as calm and relaxing.…

In the book The Piano Lesson, written by August Wilson, the author uses characterization, symbolism and conflicts between races to create Boy Willie’s speech patterns and mannerisms. Boy Willie’s character the author recognizes the conflict between the black and white people that happened at that time. The only characterization that I could find for Boy Willie is that he is obnoxious and, “loud n’ proud” not bothering to be polite but his words have a hidden meaning. As part of Boy Willie’s character the author uses lots of symbolism. “I got these big old hands … what I’m gonna do with them?”…

Did you ever notice how people with similar attitudes don’t get along? It’s quite confusing because one would think that if you knew someone who was just like you, you would get along. Never do they see themselves in each other but hate each other’s most common qualities. And for some unusual reason when they actually do become aware of their “common” qualities they automatically change. Using the lame cliché line of “I didn’t know that how I looked [to others]”.…

On this day in 1915, a prototype tank nicknamed Little Willie rolls off the assembly line in England. Little Willie was far from an overnight success. It weighed 14 tons, got stuck in trenches and crawled over rough terrain at only two miles per hour. However, improvements were made to the original prototype and tanks eventually transformed military battlefields. The British developed the tank in response to the trench warfare of World War I. In 1914, a British army colonel named Ernest Swinton and William Hankey, secretary of the Committee for Imperial Defence, championed the idea of an armored vehicle with conveyor-belt-like tracks over its wheels that could break through enemy lines and traverse difficult territory.…

Agnew’s theory states that strain can occur in three different ways – “the inability to achieve one’s goals, the loss of positive stimuli or the presentation of negative stimuli” (Agnew, 2008). Further into his research he also states different ways that a juvenile can handle the stress in a positive way, which include having high self-esteem, self-control or social support. Looking into Willie’s life before his time at the juvenile camp, there are numerous stressors in his life with not many coping mechanisms available to him, so he turns to delinquency as an outlet to relieve the stress. The movie does not delve into his goals, however most young males seek a life of recognition or money and obviously those goals seem very out of reach to Willie if he tries to achieve them the socially acceptable way through hard work and effort. In addition, he loses a very close friend and cousin as he watched Roger get shot and die in front of him on the sidewalk, which constitutes a loss of a positive stimuli in the loss of the friendship.…

He dreamt and longed to be popular and well liked because why else would he lie to his family and Charley that he is popular. He told his boys that he had met the mayor and how the cops protected his car like their own, but he is wrong to go after this dream of popularity since in reality he is not liked at all. He told Linda that “people don’t seem to take”[pg.28] to him, they “laugh”[pg.28] at him and he is “not noticed”[pg.28]. The word ‘laugh’ insinuated the fact that people thought he was foolish and do not take him seriously. However Willy only revealed this self reflection for a few pages in the book, and then continued with his delusions.…

Willie is not simply talking about the house she lives in—she is talking about herself. She has been condemned by society, but there is nothing wrong with her. All of these symbols point to the fact that Willie just wants a second chance—she would like to live differently. The problem is, this is the only life she has lived. Everything she knows, all of her “social training” came from Alva (Williams 1085).…

The first weakness of Willies’ is occasional overemphasis on particular employees. This action is detrimental to the transformational leadership theory because “without balancing the needs of the group with the preferences of individuals, however, you could overemphasize the needs or contribution of a single member” (Duggan, 2017). An example of how Willie demonstrates this is occasionally he would call on his two “favorite team members” for special choice assignments. This often irked other members of his team because it made them feel not as important and valuable. One time, one of the team members got involved in a conversation with one of the leaders’ “favorites” that turned out ugly.…
