This year my American History class and I read books such as, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, and the “Narrative Life of Frederick Douglas. All these had similar things in common. The biggest factor in all of these books were, they all had African American protagonists or the book was formed around an African American. All these books had very accurate representations of what went on during the days of when blacks were treated as objects and not as people themselves. Each book shows how the blacks were treated by their owners. It was not their choice to be taken from their homes to be treated the way they were. They were promised to be freed once they had worked for a certain amount of years. Some however were never freed. But
