The person who lives in this room is a teenager who lives in New York City. He has so much going on in his life that it is even hard to write about. His parents came to the United States from Puerto Rico in 1980’s. He’s a first generation American who was born and raised in New York City. Being the only child in his family wasn’t the stress-free thing. He was basically growing up alone. He always wished that he had siblings, because if he did, his parents wouldn’t give him as much attention and wouldn’t ask so many questions. Almost anywhere he goes, he always has a basketball with him. The love for the sport kept him going through all the hardships he had to face throughout his life. It especially helped him to go through the loss of his father. When he was in ninth grade, his father died in a car accident. This made things very tough in his life. He has a huge picture of his father on the wall, so that he can always remember how good a father he was. After his father’s death, he would just go and play ball with his friends, and at the moment when he would take a step on the court, he would just forget anything and everything that was going on in his life. Because he knows that losing someone is very hard, he tries to help his friends understand that spending time with family is crucial. He always says: “You don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow”. On his pillows he has pictures of him and his parents, so that every time he goes to bed, he sees his family right in front of his eyes. He is also very good at baseball, even one of the best in his school, but he doesn’t like it as much as basketball, because it doesn’t have as much action in it. He has won multiple trophies with his school team, which are shelved all around his room. When he was little he used to collect baseball cards. He would spend all his pocket money in order to buy them, but as soon as he grew up, he realized that there was no point in collecting the cards. It was just a waste of money and space, so whatever he had collected, he just taped all across his wall to make it look
