For someone to motivate and strengthen them to keep going will normally prove to be truthful. An approach to this would be in the epic poem The Odyssey Penelope, Odysseus’ wife, deals with tremendous hardship from suitors who have intruded her home and waiting for 20 long years for her husband to return home to Ithaca. Penelope stayed strong through the help of her son, Telemachus, who kept her going for his survival and Telemachus himself kept her spirits up and determined to keep her faith to Odysseus. Having the help of Telemachus encouraged her to not give up but to stay strong for Telemachus and her husband. Another example of how others’ guidance encourages stronger motivation is in the well-written novel The Alchemist. The main character, Santiago, already has truly outstanding perseverance. Without the help of the Alchemist, Santiago would have not had the will to keep going, but instead he would have stayed in the small-town village with his new-love, Fatima. One last idea is in the bestseller Unbroken. Many wondered how did Louie stay so determined? How did he not give up? What kept him going? Home. Louie kept his determination by having thoughts of home
