On October 1st, 2015, a 26 year old student, Christopher Harper-Mercer, fatally shot nine people and injured nine others at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. Students reported that the shooting was in his English and writing classroom, where instead of bringing his books to class that day, he brought his firearm. One survivor, Tracy Heu, stated to CNN news that “he came in and shot towards the back of the wall while telling everybody to go to the center of the room. He then started to ask people about their religion and if they believed in god. When they replied yes, he said “good you’re going to see him soon” then shot them.” She explained how the deadly mass shooting terrified her making her think that she was going to die as well, but there was so much blood on the floor and she was already covered in it, she decided to act as if she was dead and the shooter thought she was.
