(Company Basic Introduction)
• Umbro is an English sportswear and football equipment supplier based in Manchester, United Kingdom.
• Their products are sold in over 90 countries worldwide.
(Main Cultural different Issue)
• Umbro launched a sports shoe called Zyklon and market worldwide.
• They received many complaints from Jewish worldwide which condemned Umbro for being insensitivity as Zyklon was the same lethal gas used by the Nazis during the Holocaust which killed many Jewish.
(CQ behind it)
• To Umbro, they will think that “Zyklon” will be a cool and swag name and will appeal to the overseas market. This is the result of cultural baggage as they perceive that everyone will have the same belief / attitude towards the

• I can applies what I learn from Umbro by making sure that I’ve done my homework before launching my product by using Google, Survey, Forum, and professional local marketer and etc. (only give some example)
• For example, as I am from BIT, I will most likely want to launch my own IOS and Android application to a specific market.
• Example, if I want to launch a game application called Knife War to Australia.
• Firstly, I will hired professional marketer based in Australia to ask about their opinion regarding my game application to see if there is any cultural clash with the local culture.
• Secondly, I will post some brief introduction of my game (game nature, name) to forum such as Reddit and specifically asked Australian to comment about it to see if there is anything offensive to them.
