In hopes of becoming a pioneer in the newfound industry of Medical and Recreational Cannabis, I decided to join a Cannabis Consulting firm by the name of “Ultra Health” directly after receiving my B.S. in Economics from Arizona State University. Ultra Health a cannabis consulting firm based out of Scottsdale, AZ with operation across the western half of the United States, is considered to be a leader within the industry, based off it’s complete market and revenue domination in the state of New Mexico, and in combination with it’s efforts to commercialize the production and retail distribution of Cannabis on sovereign land through the partnership of Native American tribes. Yet, in relation to this discussion most references will be related to …show more content…
For example, Ultra Health used enterprise performance management to determine the relationship between its revenues and the non-financial factors such as product production. Ultra Health’s use of Enterprise wide analytics takes place through the analysis of how many gram each cannabis plant are able to produce on average and how it straight lines to our sales for the quarter. For instance, The Department of Health in New Mexico allows each Cannabis provider to grow a maximum of 450 plants at any given time, and with that being said 450 plants are only able to produce so many grams. Now when Ultra Health began selling product we noticed that during the first 3 quarters we made the same amount of money each quarter, whether or not we had higher sales in the first month of the quarter, and lower sales in the last month of the quarter or vice versa. Then by way of enterprise wide analytics we noticed our sales were highly correlated to the amounts of cannabis we harvested each month. This brought it to our attention, that we produced the same amount of grams each quarter on average, seeing we had the same amount of harvest that took place each quarter, this gave us the insight we needed to see that our demand was greater than our supply. So with this knowledge we were able to determine what non-financial factors were causing our revenue constraints, and what changes we need to make to

Marijuana has been an increasingly controversial topic in America for years, playing a central role in American culture and countercultures. Although polls suggest that there is not a large gap between those who believe it should be legalized or kept illegal, the majority believes that it should remain illegal (Milligan, 2014). This opinion is reinforced by the media’s stereotypical portrayal of a marijuana consumer, commonly referred to as a “pothead” and depicted as unmotivated in such propaganda. This perspective is typically found among the older generations, however, as science and politics are now revealing the pros of marijuana legalization, the younger generations are getting behind the movement to legalize marijuana (Milligan, 2014).…

In the four states (Oregon, Colorado, Washington and Alaska) a policy for market regulation was adopted, and cannabis business was aggregated to the existing regulatory agencies for Alcohol and Tobacco. Such agencies, known as Commissions or Boards, enhanced its structures to incorporate specific policy strategies for cannabis licensing system, production standards, taxation schemes, controls and sanctions mechanisms, as well as education and prevention programmes (Caulkins et al. 2015). The members of these bodies are generally appointed by the Governor and are supported by executive staff in charge of the implementation of the policies through two specialized commissions: one for business affairs and one for education and public safety issues. In addition the executive organ is technically supported by several sub-commissions for: growers, extracts, infused products, laboratories, licensing, compliance and enforcement, packaging retail and wholesale (OLCC, 2016).…

After some thought, choosing the decriminalization model because this is a model compromised between legalization and prohibition. After many years of waging war on drugs, I do not see us really getting anywhere. By placing someone found in possession of more than a week’s supply of any type of drug such as marijuana to cocaine, the person would deal with an accelerated rehabilitative disposition as in a special intervention type program and calling it the mediation group comprised of a lawyer, a doctor and a social worker. This group could recommend treatment as well as present any minor fines. The main lesson to learn from decriminalizing drug doesn’t necessarily lead to disaster, and it does free up resources for more effective responses…

Those in proposition have expressed fears that through ease of access, numbers in pot consumption would increase drastically causing a spark in crime, possible health risks, and a lazier society which would potentially increase unemployment and welfare. While studying Colorado, who had been the first state in the U.S. to legalize recreational use of marijuana in January 2014, we can now see that these fears held no depth. In fact, the criminalization of marijuana has had a great strain on the American people through paying billions in taxes for the enforcement of marijuana related crimes and the overcrowding marijuana cases causes in prisons and jails (DPA, Drug Policy Alliance). We have since seen, through Colorado’s full recreational legalization in beginning 2014, that the fears of legalized recreational marijuana held no depth or truth. In fact, Colorado has shown us the endless pros of such: boost in revenue, de-crowding in correctional facilities, boost…
