Music Therapy There is a clinical and evidence-based use of music therapy offering a low-risk, inexpensive, non-pharmacological addition to standard care in pain management. Music therapy assists the patient in helping regain self-control and to become actively involved in the management of pain (Gutgsell et al, 2013). The different types of music interventions include singing, listening to music, and song writing that aid in enhancing relaxation, providing opportunities for self-expression, facilitating communication with loved ones, and bringing beauty to suffering (Gutgsell, 2013). This aids in relieving anxiety and fear. The music therapist utilizes methods of muscle relaxation and guide for incorporating breathing with images of pain relief…

In this paper I will discuss whether or not this purposeful termination is morally permissible by referencing the well-known violinist case by Judith Jarvis Thomson. I will begin by describing Thomson’s violinist case and explaining what the case is meant to show. After which I will justify why it should be morally permissible to disconnect yourself from the violinist. Once the violinist case has been thoroughly discussed, I shall then raise disanalogies that exist between the violinist case and the case of pregnancy that would prevent the conclusion from generalizing to any case of pregnancy. Following the disanalogies to Thomson’s case, I will provide the alterations that can be made to the case to try and eliminate such disanalogies.…

Uaxactun is a sacred place of the ancient mayan people. Located in northern guatemala it was first explored by American archaeologists in 1916. The excavations at the temple pyramids of Uaxactun significantly furthered our understanding of ancient mayan civilization. The scholarly article Multispectral imaging of an Early Classic Maya codex fragment from Uaxactun, Guatemala by Nicholas P. Carter & Jeffrey Dobereiner outlines the process of analyzing small fragments of a codex from an ancient Uaxactun temple made of plaster coated bark dated back to 400-600 AD. Using the process of multispectral imaging, which is to capture an image and analyze it at specific frequencies across the electromagnetic spectrum, archaeologists were able to detect not only paintings and writings, but they found a second hidden layer of writings that had been resurfaced and repainted over in ancient times.…

When Kamehameha was still a young man, he was trained as a warrior and learned the ways of a chief. Many years later, he became the first person to unify, or become king of all 8 Hawaiian Islands, all because he was an effective leader. Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was able to adapt to new ideas, he cared for his people, and because he was brave.…

Native American culture has been slowly dying for a little over five centuries. It started in 1492 when Columbus sailed out on his historic voyage and it is still going on in present day America. Interactions between Native Americans and European settlers often resulted in the complete destruction of music considered “pagan” by the Europeans. Native people were continuously removed and relocated from their ancestral homelands, losing many of their mythologies and ancient music traditions in the process. The Native American people have tried to fight back numerous times but there numbers were decimated in the beginning with the introduction of diseases such as measles, typhus, and smallpox.…

Violins are one of the most popular instruments ever. They are an hourglass-shaped string instrument that reaches the highest pitches in a string orchestra.
