As She stole through the night, Lina made sure that she melted into the shadows of the tree’s to throw off anyone that might be following her. It had taken her years, but she had finally deciphered the code leading her to the lost temple of Ugiszarie, and more importantly, the Ugiszarie emerald. The Ugiszarie emerald, the whole reason she was doing this ridiculously dangerous task. The Ugiszarie emerald was believed to be a mythical gem that weighed over 900 pounds and contained almost 200,00 carats of emerald. People used to think that it was just a legend and the Ugiszarie tribe never found such a thing, until the scrolls were found. She found herself laughing gleefully, almost maniacally, to herself as she walked toward the emerald she had spend so long looking for. As she neared the altar she felt an odd sensation, almost as if someone had passed through her, and she stumbled a few feet before regaining her balance. She walked up to the altar and slowly reached out to touch the emerald. Her blue eyes shone brightly as she placed her hand on the emerald, when nothing happened a feeling of relief washed over her. She hadn’t brought anything to remove the emerald, but at least she now knew it was indeed real and she would come back the tomorrow with the proper equipment to remove and transport the emerald out of the temple. She started her way back out of the temple careful to avoid all of the traps again, except this time she didn’t get as lucky. About fifty feet from the altar room that same sensation that had happened to her near the altar passed over her again, and she stumbled a few feet, setting off a tripwire. She immediately laid flat on the ground and waited for something to whiz over her head, but after 30 seconds and nothing happening she started to get up. All of a sudden she heard an awful sound coming from above her head, and she looked up to see a giant slab of stone

III. Gugliemites and their Beliefs: “He heard from sister Maifreda di Pirovano and Andrea Saramita,” recalls Francesco da Garbagnate, “that while Guglielma – who was buried in the monastery of Chiaravalle – was alive she said to them that from the year 1262 the body of Christ had not been sacrificed nor consecrated alone, but with the body of the Holy Spirit, which was Guglielma herself.” Whether she meant that she was in fact the incarnation of the Holy Spirit is not easy to ascertain. Introduction In mid-17th century, the Ottoman Empire witnessed the formation of one of the most peculiar communities in its history: the Dönme – meaning ‘converts’ in Turkish. The Dönme were a group of crypto-Sabbatians, in other words hidden followers of a messianic movement established around Jewish rabbi Sabbatai Tsevi. Strongly disapproving of Sabbatai’s apostate messianic claims and his increasing number of followers, Sultan Mehmed IV and his Grand Vizier Köprülü Ahmed Paşa forced Sabbatai to convert to Islam in 1666 (Baer, The Dönme 1-2). Subsequently, many of Sabbatai’s believers followed his path, forming crypto-Jewish communities influenced by both religions (most notably centered in Salonica, and then Istanbul within the Ottoman Empire)…
