B. Policy 2- Hot, Healthy, and Keeping It Up! Program Hot, Healthy, and Keeping It Up! (HHKIU) is a behavioral skills-based intervention designed for gay and bisexual Asian and Pacific Islander (API) men. HHKIU was first implemented in a field study at the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance Community HIV Project (GCHP), an API gay and bisexual HIV/AIDS agency in San Francisco, California. HHKIU has demonstrated significant reductions in the number of sexual partners among all intervention participants three months after the intervention. The success of this program is based on culturally appropriate interventions and acknowledging risky HIV behaviors. The intervention is designed to increase positive ethnic and sexual identity in order to help participants acknowledge HIV risk behaviors by discussing negative experiences of being both Asian or Pacific Islander and homosexual (e.g., lack of social support, racism, and homophobia).
