Uganda is an African country with diverse landscapes. It is said to have great economic potential and has already grown economically. Uganda has survived political instability and economic turmoil and is now progressing into a stable country. Uganda is populated by dozens of ethnic groups and is also known as ‘the pearl of Africa”. Uganda has been tackling the Aids crisis and now has one of the fastest growing economies in Africa.
Uganda’s Location
Uganda is located in Eastern Africa. Uganda is a land locked country and shares land borders with Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Uganda has a GDP of 25.53 billion USD.

“Uganda has been one of the developing countries hardest hit in the early years of AIDS.” and “AIDS predominantly strikes young adults in their most productive years”. As stated in the attached case study, this means that the social difficulties brought by disease decreases production and the work force. The case study also shows that disease and poverty are directly linked – “The grim fact is that AIDS is creating a virtual generation of orphans in some African countries such as Uganda”. Uganda also has a long history of military dictatorship and human right abuses made by past leaders – Idi Amin from 1971 to 1979 and then Milton Obote from 1980 to 1986.
