1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time. My sophomore year, I was placed into a group of four other kids for my Spanish class. I saw these kids as lacking confidence and motivation to do good in school. In my eyes they were the class clowns. I’ve always cared about my grades, so I was initially upset; however, I got myself together and told myself I would lead them to an A for this project. As they fooled around, I would redirect their attention in order to tell them what was going on and who would be doing what in the group. I not only was giving orders, but I would be there for them if they needed help. I led this group and I believed that they would succeed. I saw myself as a mature young lady and dedicated no matter how upset the group would make me. I didn’t give up; I just kept pursuing their attention and

When I had received the letter, I knew I had to take this opportunity although it would be challenging. I pulled myself together to sign up. I had begged my mom to help me finish the paperwork as soon as possible and on the second day of receiving the packet to fill out, I asked my science teacher and counselor for letters of recommendation. I had spent so much time attempting to perfect my application, in which I was able to succeed. I had turned in a perfectly filled out application with a proper letter and two great recommendations. When the news finally came around of who had been accepted for the scholarship, my name was not mentioned. I had felt broken and upset, but I knew that more opportunities would come around with time. Although I had not received this scholarship, I continue to this day, apply for more and try harder to win over the

My most significant leadership experience would be when I was in the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. I had been in the tennis team during my highschool years, for 2 years. During that time I learned a lot about being a leader, such as what it means to lead others, and what qualities a leader should have. When I first started playing tennis I started at the position on 2nd doubles, to me I took it as that I was not good enough to play against an opponent by myself on the court. Which was entirely true, because when I began playing I was not any good whatsoever.…

A time that I have ever taken a leadership role was when I was a junior staff at Kid’s Clubhouse when I was 14. We had taken the kids to the Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC because the place we were going to go had been closed down. It was organized chaos and the kids were wanting to run around the place but we had to remember that everyone was suppose to be back at the bus by 3:30 pm. The time went by and and my partner lost track of time so I had to stand up and tell her that we had to go so that we would not get yelled at.…

Discuss a leadership experience you have had in any area of your life: school, work, athletics, family, church, community, etc. How and why did you become a leader in this area? How did this experience influence your goals? I was playing soccer with my friends in my neighborhood just a normal day everything looked as usual. But while I was playing soccer I was hearing a noise, not knowing if I am the only one who is hearing I felt deluded for a moment and stopped playing soccer and headed to the direction where the noise was coming from.…

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

UC Essays 1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time. 342 Some people believe that leadership is all about telling others what to do, but for me, it is primarily about being hyper-observant, and then stepping up to meet any need arises. This style has helped me while serving as the Vice-President of the Red Cross club at my school. I spend regularly six hours each week leading club meetings, organizing with our local Red Cross chapter, and reaching out to other local community organizations.…
